DPA Solar was excited to attend the launch of the second phase of the ARENA sponsored battery testing at the Canberra Institute of Technology.

Shown here is DPA Solar director Richard Barker with Simon Franklin, Managing Director of ITP Renewables who are running the testing.

The accelerated life testing is designed to rapidly cycle a variety of battery brands, including a Simpliphi Lithium Iron Phosphate battery, to the same frequent charge and discharge regime.

Testing takes place in a climate-controlled room – the “Batt Lab”. Within the Batt Lab temperatures are cycled through hot daytime and cool overnight temperatures, similar to what they would be expected to face in real-world conditions.

Results will be made available publicly so consumers and installers can select batteries on scientifically based results.

SimpliPhi is confidently awaiting results because previous testing confirms our warranty information that after 10,000 cycles at 80% DOD (Depth Of Discharge) or 5,000 cycles at 95% dod, battery capacity is above 80% of rated capacity.
